Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is widely used to manufacture packaging bags, cling film, containers, and other daily necessities due to its lightweight, flexibility, and excellent chemical stability. Although it possesses a certain℃of durability, proper daily care can effectively delay aging, maintain performance, extend service life, and ensure safe use.

Cleansing is the foundation of care. While the surface of LDPE is smooth, residual grease, sugar, and pigments can easily breed microorganisms and cause localized degradation. It is recommended to use a mild, neutral detergent and warm water for cleaning. Avoid strong acids, strong alkalis, or chlorine bleach, as these can damage the hydrocarbon structure in the molecular chain, causing surface cracking or embrittlement. When cleaning, gently wipe with a soft cloth or sponge; avoid scraping with hard tools such as steel wool to prevent micro-scratches that provide pathways for environmental pollutants to penetrate. Rinsing should be thorough; residual detergent will attract moisture and promote hydrolysis, accelerating material deterioration in humid and hot environments.

Drying and storage environments directly affect the stability of LDPE. After washing, place in a cool, ventilated place to air dry naturally, avoiding direct sunlight or proximity to heat sources. Ultraviolet light can trigger photo-oxidation, causing molecular chain breakage, yellowing, and decreased mechanical properties; high temperatures intensify chain segment movement, leading to softening and deformation. The ideal storage temperature is room temperature, with relative humidity controlled between 50% and 70%. Excessive humidity can induce mold growth and exacerbate hydrolysis, while insufficient humidity may cause the product to lose moisture and harden. For long-term storage, it is recommended to lay flat or hang in a light-proof storage cabinet, avoiding heavy pressure and stacking to prevent irreversible deformation.

Protection during use is equally crucial. LDPE has limited oil and organic solvent resistance; avoid direct contact with non-polar solvents such as gasoline, kerosene, and benzene to prevent swelling, dissolution, or stress cracking. Do not exceed the design load limit when loading items, especially when containing liquids or sharp objects; use linings or cushioning measures to prevent punctures or tears. Before reusing LDPE products, check for cracks, thinning, or adhesion. Replace the product immediately if any are found to prevent accidental breakage under stress or heat.

Furthermore, for food contact LDPE products, regularly monitor their hygiene and regulatory compliance to prevent excessive accumulation of migrations due to prolonged use. In summary, proper cleaning, suitable storage, and reasonable usage habits are the core care principles for ensuring the long-lasting performance and reliable safety of LDPE products.
